Night's Devotion

I finally started to write again in this blog. From now on, I'm planning to write something from my devotion time. I don't promise that this kind of post will be out regularly, but I hope that I can be as consistent as possible.

So, why do I want to write about devotion? It's not that I want to show up with an image that I'm such the holiest person in the earth. But, I'm a-hundred-percent sure that every one needs to hear (read) the Gospel. We don't enjoy the Scripture because we are already pure at heart. In fact, all Scriptures is God-breathed... so that we can be equipped to do good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It reflects ourselves, including our sins and errors, to be finally purified only by the grace of God. And you know what? I experience that every time I read the Bible. I see myself as a dirty piece of creature who should have paid the cost of her own faults. Turns out that there is no one in this world who can pay for the sins but God.
We don't come and see God as a holly person by nature. How many times we want to do good deeds but end up failing? Nobody can be perfect by their own strength. That's why we come to the Lord and put ourselves in His hand through enjoying our time alone with Him every day. At the end of the day, enjoying God in our lives is not for the sake of our comfort. Even from the beginning, all creation is created to glorify the Creator, God and God alone. So, if I can feel that comfort, I know it's not just for me, myself, and I. I want to share what I got and let it overflow; let God's grace overflow in me and through me.

Psalm 37:1-6
"Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart." - Psalm 37:4
"dan bergembiralah karena TUHAN; maka Ia akan memberikan kepadamu apa yang diinginkan hatimu."  - Mazmur 37:4
This simply starts with the question, "What is your desire?"

How many times I might possibly think that God will definitely give ALL desires of my heart, no matter what it takes? Will He? What kind of desire? Lately, I've heard things about desires of the heart. Living in this world must give us so many choices to have kinds of desire. Sadly, not all of them can bring us to the Lord. Take a look at this definition quoted from Oxford dictionary:

Desire: A strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen.

Have you ever wished for something that you know you shouldn't have to? Have you ever wanted something so badly that ultimately makes you think of "this is so right, but it's wrong" things? Trust me, I have.

Again, what is our true desire? If we are dying to satisfy ourselves with earthly things, will God give them all? At some point, we might get what we want, but it does not mean that it is the right thing ever happened to satisfy us. The only desire that can be fully fulfilled is the desire of God. I believe it because God says so in this verse.

Glory to God alone!
